The Beech Group is a Brighton based provider of Employee Assistance Programmes (EAP's). We help organisations support their staff by providing counselling schemes, stress management training and a range of other staff support services.
What is an EAP?
An EAP is a workplace programme, providing counselling and other services to staff, managers and teams, which can help resolve conflicts and concerns, thereby enabling the improvement of performance, the enhancement of staff wellbeing and the reduction of stress and absenteeism.
Some of the areas that could be addressed include:
-
Work-related stress
-
Conflict resolution
-
Work/life balance
-
Post traumatic stress
-
Inter-personal skills
-
Harassment and bullying
-
Abuse
-
Depression
-
Anxiety
-
Low self-esteem
-
Bereavement
-
Health concerns, including terminal illness
-
Family and peer relationships
-
Addiction
-
Financial and legal concerns
Why have an EAP?
The increased pace of change in private, public and voluntary organisations can bring many pressures and demands - the need to deliver in competitive markets, heavy workloads, long working hours - all of which have an impact on the wellbeing of individuals in the workplace. Additionally, individuals may have personal difficulties which may affect their ability to perform well at work.
It also revealed that:
-
Counselling in the workplace could reduce levels of sickness and absence by between 25 and 50%
-
Workplace counselling is effective in relieving the symptoms of both anxiety and depression
-
Successful results can be achieved after as little as 3-8 sessions of counselling
-
Workplace counselling at the very least covers its financial costs
